Congratulations to our president Chris Evans who will feature in this summer's over-70s Cricket World Cup being held here in England

The T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA may be over but it's not the end of World Cup cricket this summer.

The International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-70s Cricket World Cup gets underway at the end of July here in England. And Ashford's president Chris Evans has been selected for the England squad.

Evans is part of a 16-man squad that will aim to go all the way to the World Cup final, which will be played at Sir Paul Getty's beautiful Wormsley Cricket Ground in High Wycombe on Sunday 11th August.

But first Evans and his England teammates will need to overcome septuagenarians from Sri Lanka, India, New Zealand Australia, Wales and Canada.

Conveniently, the venues for the tournament matches are all relatively local to Ashford and with some improvement to the summer's weather would make for an enjoyable afternoon out watching cricket. England's fixtures, all starting at 12pm are:

Final Sunday 11th August England beat Australia @ Wormsley - Chris played in this match

Venue: Wormsley Cricket, Stokenchurch, High Wycombe, HP14 3YE, see: https://wormsley.com/cricket for more details. Off the M40 at junction 5, if coming from London, turn left on to the Ibstone Rd, past the Chiltern Grange Care Home on the right, a few hundred yards then turn right through the gates which will be open and attended.
Follow the road down through the estate, past the deer, Red Kites, and sheep and up to the ground which is on the left at the top of a rise.
There will be an open air bar and a coffee/tea facility, the latter serving snacks, on the ground for visitors. Seating is restricted so please advise friends and family to bring their own. There is parking for a thousand cars at the ground, a steward will point you in the right direction upon your arrival.

Full details of all tournament fixtures are available here.

All of us at Ashford wish Chris the best of luck and hope that he and the England team have what it takes to claim the cup.
