Some useful FAQs for the AGM

1. What is the AGM?
Answer: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the membership’s opportunity to be informed about the activities of the main committee for the season and elect their choice for both the administrative and playing officials of the club for the coming year.

2. When is the AGM?
Answer: Thursday 09/11/2023 19:30

3. Where is the AGM?
Answer: The function room of the clubhouse.

4. What are the rules at the AGM?
Answer: The AGM rules are part of the constitution (can be found on the club website: Ashford Cricket Club Constitution)

5. What happens at the AGM?
Answer: Reports and Accounts for the year are presented, proposed rule/subscription prices changes are submitted and voted on and elections are held for the main committee and captains.

6. How do I stand for a committee post or captaincy?
Answer: You must be proposed and seconded by members of ACC, this can be done at the clubhouse on the signup sheet or by email to the club secretary (details below). You must be eligible to vote at the AGM to be eligible to hold positions.

7. What if I want to help the club but not be on the main committee?
Answer: There are a range of posts of volunteers for: playing subcommittee, tour subcommittee, social subcommittee, A(SL)S rep, Surrey Championship rep, social media, equality+diversity+inclusion subcommittee. You can register interest for these on the nomination sheet in the clubhouse.

8. How is voting organised at the AGM?
Answer: Voting is done in a closed ballot. If you are a Full Member (definition in the constitution) you will be given your ballots when you are signed in at the AGM.
You cannot vote in advance and you cannot vote by proxy.

9. Who can vote?
Answer: "All Life Members, Vice Presidents, Committee Members, Full Members and those Junior Playing Members aged sixteen years or over at the date of the meeting are entitled to vote at General Meetings. Other members may attend General Meetings but are not entitled to vote." "Full members" in the line above includes Full-Playing; Full Social; Full Non-Playing Family Social members - as all are described under Section 4 in the Constitution.
