Peter Ash has died after a lengthy illness, aged 83.

It is with great sadness we announce that Peter Ash has died after a lengthy illness.

Peter was a long standing and loyal Ashford member. He played for Ashford for many years, mainly in the 2nd XI as a medium pace bowler. In one league game against Addiscombe in 1981, before restrictions were introduced, he bowled unchanged for 28 overs. He was a hard hitting but elegant lower order batsman.

He served as Club Secretary between 1967 – 1972 and again between 1975 – 1976. He was elected a Life Member in 1991, and appointed Club President between 2000 – 2008. He was President for the club’s 150th anniversary and was very proud to introduce former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and England star Derek Randall as speakers at the celebration dinner.

Our thoughts are with his wife Margaret and daughters Sue and Gill, all of whom were regular supporters of the club.

A memorial service is being held at Egham United Church on Thursday November 7th at 3pm. Please let Chris Evans know if you plan to attend.
